The Bolema Trail is a connector between the Ridge Trail to the west (ocean side) and the Olema Valley Trail to the east. This shaded trail is a gradual ascent from Olema Valley to the top of the Inverness Ridge. The plants along the trail include Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis), Common Douglas-Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Bigleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum), Red-berried Elder (Sambucus racemosa), Beaked Hazelnut (Corylus cornuta), Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii), Thimbleberry (Rubus parviflorus), Trailing Blackberry (Rubus ursinus), and of course, plenty of Pacific Poison Oak (Toxicodendron diversilobum) and Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica).

Five Brooks Loop Trail: Olema Valley-Bolema-Ridge-Stewart

This is a mostly-shaded 5.7 mile loop. Starting at the Olema Valley Trail at Five Brooks, hike south (to the left) for 1.2 miles to the Bolema Trail. The trail ascends up the Inverness Ridge. Climb in a gradual ascent on the Bolema Trail for 1.1 miles to the Ridge Trail. Take a right at the Ridge Trail for 0.8 miles to the Stewart Trail. Take a right on the Stewart Trail and descend gradually for 2.6 miles back to Five Brooks. Hike it in either direction.


Volunteer Opportunity: Visitor Services

Work alongside park rangers and volunteers to staff the visitor center desk at the Bear Valley Visitor Center and/or Lighthouse Visitor Center. Assist visitors by providing information about the park and the surrounding area.

Provides an opportunity to learn about cultural, historical, and natural resources of national significance and to develop a deeper connection with Point Reyes National Seashore.
