Habitat Restoration

Habitat Restoration

Sunday, July 28

9am to 1pm

Volunteers help protect and restore endangered plant and wildlife habitat at Abbotts Lagoon, the Lighthouse Bluffs, and other high value habitat areas at Point Reyes National Seashore. Visit some of the most beautiful areas in the park and learn about local plant ecology while you work alongside park staff to carry out ecological restoration projects. This month we will target invasive iceplant (Carpobrodus edulis), one of the top two invasive plants that are putting our native dune species at risk. We will be removing iceplant patches in the Point Reyes Headlands to the north of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard along a ridge and swale that has shown a good response of native species as the iceplant regrowth is removed. Meet at 9am in front of the Bear Valley Visitor Center. Please RSVP to May Slen by 4pm on Saturday, July 27 at 415-464-5133 or by email.
