Discover the hidden creatures under your feet, in the sand at the beach. You’ll learn about Pacific Mole Crabs biology, ecology, role in the sandy beach food web and environmental changes that could threaten their survival. Find out where the mole crabs live, how to sample the sand for the crabs, measure their size and determine their sex and life stage. At the beach, you’ll put into practice what you learned by participating in a community science, helping to track the Pacific mole crab population through established monitoring methods. These charismatic invertebrates are easy to handle, don’t pinch and perfect way to spend time at the beach while learning about this special indicator species.
