Thursday Weeders! Habitat Stewardship @ Abbott's Lagoon
Every other Thursday from 10:00am to 1:00pm from August 22 until October 17, 2024
Held every other Thursday each month, join NPS and PRNSA staff in helping to remove invasive plant species from sensitive coastal dune habitats at Abbotts Lagoon. We will meet at the Abbott's Lagoon Trailhead off Pierce Point Rd before hiking to the dunes together. We hope that you'll consider joining us in restoring our shoreline!
Help restore critical dune habitat with National Park Service (NPS) rangers and Point Reyes National Seashore Association (PRNSA) staff!
Each workday will begin with a quick welcome check-in at the Abbotts Lagoon trailhead, followed by a 1.3 mile hike on a mostly flat trail to the work site. This gratifying work consists of removing invasive plants including ice plant, European searocket, and European beach grass. Volunteers are welcome to stay for as long as they'd like.
Advanced registration is encouraged but not required--drop-in attendance is welcomed for anyone over 18 years old! Volunteers under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and a "Volunteer Agreement Form" will need to be signed prior to participation. Extra forms are available on site.
