Ice plant removal at North Beach

Join us for some ice plant pulling on Sunday, Nov. 3rd from 11am-1pm at North Beach!

The Point Reyes National Seashore needs your help pulling invasive ice plant from the North Beach area. All tools will be provided. Trust your local park rangers: pulling out ice plant is FUN!

Spend a few hours of your weekend helping to restore critical dune habitat by pulling out non-native ice plant at North Beach! This sometimes beautiful, but locally nefarious plant has a tendency to spread out quickly...out-competing native plant species and leading to decreased ecologic diversity. Embrace your inner superhero by joining National Park Service (NPS) rangers in their mission to restore the dunes to their full potential, one chunk of ice plant at a time!

Drop in any time between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Work gloves and hand tools provided.

Bring warm layers, sunscreen and water, as weather conditions can change quickly at North Beach.

Advance registration by emailing Volunteer Manager Cristobal Castañeda (cristobalcs@ptreyes.org) is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome too.
